A Special Memory Quilt

I finished working on this special quilt just before Christmas. The family it's going to lost their 18-year old son in a car accident. It was beautifully put together by a family friend. Let me share this special quilt with you:
As you can see, this young man loved football. The center block you see above, was his football jersey. The woman who put this together did such a great job. She stitched down the jersey onto this center block and I outlined the numbers and stitched it down in white thread here and there. I tried to keep it somewhat three-dimentional.

Below is a darling block which was one of the young man's dress shirts and a favorite tie. I did a medium meander throughout and matched threads to each shirt in the quilt. Here are some more blocks you can see.
I felt very honored to be asked to quilt this special quilt. I know it will be a wonderful keepsake for the family.

Beautiful job on a very meaningful quilt. The quiltmaker had some very interesting ways to highlight the clothes too.
